Torrance County is accepting applications for the position of Finance Director.  This position is responsible for the overall operation of the Finance Department. Position manages and coordinates all financial operations for Torrance County, to include budget preparation and management, general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, internal controls and audit planning. Duties include oversight of accounting duties for the county, ensuring that all functions are in compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations. Prepares annual fiscal budget for submission to the BOCC and the New Mexico State Department of Finance and Administration. Monitors department budgets and spending activity to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints for fiscal year.

 

Candidate must possess a High School Diploma or GED; must be 18 years or older with a valid NM Driver’s License. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in the field of Finance or closely related area or at least five (5) years’ experience. Combination of education and working knowledge of local governmental procedures, budget preparation, GAAP, GASB GAAFR, payroll, reports, contracts, and grants may be used. Preference will be given to any applicant that is a Certified Government Financial Manager, Certified Management Accountant, or Certified Public Accountant.

Torrance County is accepting applications for a seasonal Voting Machine Technician in the County Clerk’s office. Must be 18 years or older, with a High School Diploma or GED. Must be able to obtain and maintain current State of NM issued Voting Machine Technician Certification at the conclusion of training, and in accordance with Section 1-9-13B, NMSA. Applicant must perform a variety of functions including programming voting machines, maintenance and repair, de-programming machines; must be available to provide technical assistance in conducting election schools, be available on election days to provide services, and must be able to transport voting machines. Torrance County is accepting applications for part-time Float Clerk,  $9.00 per hour. Must be 18 years or older with a valid NM Driver’s License.  High School Diploma or GED required. The Float Clerk acts as a substitute office clerk when coverage is needed in any of the County Administrative Offices. Employee may be required to work 40 hours per week, or may work as little as 0 hours per week, as scheduling allows. Employee is not guaranteed to work consecutive days or hours.
