The Torrance County Commission is accepting letters of interest for the Census 2020 Complete Count Committee. The Committee will plan and conduct local educational initiatives, publicity and participation in Census 2020. The Commission is seeking members from the following community groups:
An accurate census is essential for the allocation of representatives with the legislative bodies of the U.S. House of Representatives, the New Mexico Legislature and within Torrance County, including voting districts. Correct apportionment of Federal dollars for health, education, transportation, child and elder care, emergency preparation and response, and public and social support programs of all kinds depends on complete and accurate age, population and other ethnic and demographic information gathered every ten years. The Complete Count Committee will partner local government, businesses, religious groups, education, community organizations, minority groups and media to promote and encourage response to the 2020 Census in our communities.
If you are interested in joining this Complete Count team, please submit a letter of interest to the County Manager’s Office, by mail at PO Box 48, Estancia, NM 87016, by fax at (505) 384-5294 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for letters of interest is Wednesday, August 1st, 2018 at 5:00 P.M. Applicants should plan to attend the Commission for a brief interview and possible appointment at the regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, August 8th, 2018, 9:00 A.M. Members will be appointed to serve for a term to continue through June 2020.
