Pursuant to Senate Bill 369, A County Clerk shall collect a recording fee of $25.00 for each document filed or recorded by the County Clerk. If a document being filed or recorded contains more than ten entries to be indexed, the County Clerk shall charge an additional $25.00 for each additional block of ten or fewer entries to the index from each document.
Note:
All recordings must be the original document. The document is recorded, copied, and returned to the customer immediately. For notary requests, all parties must be present to sign the document.
Recording Requirements
You can mail your documents to: Torrance County Clerk, P. O. Box 767, Estancia, N.M. 87016. Please call us at 505-544-4350 and we will give you the fee to record your document. Your document will be recorded, scanned and originals will be sent back to you with your receipt. It will immediately become public record once recorded.
Real Estate Documents
All documents must have original signature, notary seal and date of notary expiration. Correct fee must accompany document or it will be returned unrecorded. Recording space of at least 2x3 for our recording information must be allowed. The only documents that do not require a notary are: Lis Pendens, Federal Tax Lien, release (IRS)
UCC's –Financing Statements
Only real estate filings will be recorded at Torrance County, all others will be filed at the secretary of state's office. All statements must be on correct standard page, or a double fee shall be charged. Legal description must be on all documents. Book and page will be allowed. Correct fee must be included, if a shortage occurs, we will return document unrecorded. Any over payment shall be kept.

The Torrance County Clerk’s Office will provide certified copies of recorded documents by means of mail/shipping if the request is submitted in writing with sufficient information, a check with the correct certification fee and $1 for each page thereafter per document on letter or legal size paper - with a self-addressed stamped envelope [size of envelope depends on the size of the document(s) requested] or a prepaid shipping packet from the U.S. Postal Service, Fed Ex, DHL, or UPS.
Mailed documents will be returned to original sender unless a Self addressed stamped envelope is provided.
The County Clerk’s Office will review the Grantor/Grantee’s and legal description of each document and determine how many entries will be required for indexing. Every name indexed counts as one entry. For example:
